As overall religious fervor has seemed to diminish over the years, recent news reports indicate Amish is the fastest growing religious group in the United States.
Really – Amish? The people who spurn most technology, and are known for their preference of the horse-drawn buggy over the horseless carriage?
That’s what major news organizations are reporting (see link below).
But, is it really the allure of the simple lifestyle? OR is it the pathetic state of our economy?
Seriously, consider how many people have had their cable TV disconnected, cars repossessed, and their homes foreclosed.
The humiliation; the shame…
All things considered, maybe it was just easier (definitely less embarrassing) to say they have become Amish, rather than admitting they were never liquid, maxed out every credit line, and basically lost their shirts.
In other words, ‘Tis better to be Amish than homeless.
