Today, Hispanic; Tomorrow? Depends – What’s on the Menu?

They say everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
I say Americans are basically fickle, and will adjust their heritage in a heartbeat for an excuse to party.
Seriously, everybody’s Catholic for Mardi Gras; we’re all German for Oktoberfest, and a diehard football fan at least one day a year – for the SuperBowl. There is no heritage, ethnicity, or loyalty that cannot be compromised for the sake of celebrating with food and “adult beverages.”

This weekend, for example, Margarita lovers of all ethnicities will be Hispanic, if not for the entire weekend, at least for a day.  White people everywhere will be flocking to On the Border, El Chico, Mi Cocina, El Fenix (Dallas area only) – pick your favorite Mexican restaurant – they will be there, and they will be fiesta-ing.

Whether you are Hispanic just for the weekend (because you love you some tequila), for a lifetime, or only until October when you morph into German, to slam down some steins for Oktoberfest, it’s Cinco de Mayo – enjoy!
